A KITCHEN TRANSFORMATION!

Our clients wanted to update their kitchen but didn’t want the huge expense purchasing new cabinets.  Solution…paint the perimeter cabinets and add in a large custom island.  The island included a wine refrigerator, built in microwave, wine rack, lots of drawers/cabinets and a mixer lift.  New Coretec flooring (laid on top of tile), quartz (perimeter) and marble (island) countertops, granite composite sink, coil faucet, cook top, wall mount hood fan and tile backsplash brought this kitchen to life.  It was a huge transformation and our clients are thrilled!  Here are a few before and after pics:

Oversized Kitchen Seating? Yes, Please!

One of our clients recently moved into a lovely condo but it was impossible to fit all of her oversized furniture in the smaller living room. There is a kitchen eating area but she has no plans to buy a dinette set since she has a dining room right outside the kitchen. So where can we put an extra comfy chair? In the kitchen, of course! A great little spot to have coffee and read the paper… or catch up on Instagram. BEFORE AFTER

A Small Bathroom with A BIG Makeover!

This is a main floor bathroom that we recently renovated. We removed the medicine cabinet, mirror, light fixture (above mirror) and all existing tile and shower door.  The client wanted a “Spa” feel, so we used dark brown porcelain tile on the floor and the shower walls.  A flat pebble tile was used on the shower floor. A niche and “waterfall” tile feature in the shower was also added. A tall/narrow mirror (from the lovely Pottery Barn) was installed.  The existing vanity was not the right color and looked “blah,” so we painted it and added new hardware.  New granite

Food Storage for Quality

The University of Nebraska has a very useful chart about food storage. Sometimes can keep longer than we think and other times its safer to toss it. We’ve copied it below but you can also find it here: https://food.unl.edu/safety/chart along with a few other helpful tidbits! If there is nothing in the “Room Temperature” section for the food item, keep it in the fridge or freezer! Oh, and check out spices and dried herbs at the end of the list – they can certainly loose their potency! Thank goodness for science! A Well Deserved Moving Present

HauteMove packed this clients apartment in DC and then unpacked and organized her new condo.  We had originally planned to do this two day move the day after she wrote the bar exam.  On the evening of our 2nd day she had to be packed and ready for an overseas family trip.  We knew this was going to be a challenge and we couldn’t imagine how stressful this was going to be for her, but we would get it done. I received a call from her Mom after we had set up the moving plan and got the best news ever.  Mom and Dad were going
